The history of the LIRA of the Italian Republic.


As a memento of our recent and past history we have created a series of coins-medals rappresenting the eleven main coins of the LIRA denomination . Struck in gold and silver, proof quality only in a limited edition.You can get an exclusive collection.Spartaco Nanni,who is the inventor of this project, was born in Civitella S. Paolo (Rome) in 1949 He started working at a young age where he soon met noted artists and professionals from whom he acquired his first impressions of metalworking. In 1977 he won a public competition for a job post and was hired by the Federal Mint as a specialized craftsman in the Workshop of the Coin Production Department. In 1988 he was promoted to Head of the Coin Production Department of the Federal Mint. In 2000, already head of the Artistic and Special Monetary Department, he left the Polygraph Institute and Federal Mint and founded “Officina della Medaglia".
